Kollmorgen Motion Controller
Upgrade customer's controller in an industrial automation system with a new Kollmorgen motor controller.The system rework involved updating the existing code base and improving maintanability through an intuitive maintenance user interface.

Integration
A failing controller required the client to replace it. New logic that is faster and more efficient was designed and implemented. The client already had AKD servo drivers by Kollmorgen but not a matching Kollmorgen controller, thus that brand was selected.
The main IDE for Kollmorgen controllers is the proprietary Kollmorgen Automation Suite. It included simulation functionality as well as an optional Kollmorgen Visualization Builder which allows development of screens on the client touchscreen.
Pipe Bender Specs
The machine being controlled is used to bend pipe to various lengths. The user can type the dimensions of bends in the screen and have the 3 servos move to positions that match the dimensions given. This system also utilizes safety measures such as limit switches and a sick light curtain.
